What is the best time of year to visit Ireland?

The optimal time for most tourists is from late spring to early autumn (May through September), when Ireland experiences its warmest weather, longest daylight hours, and an active calendar of festivals and events. During June and July, daylight can stretch until nearly 11 p.m., perfect for long scenic drives and evening walks. May and September tend to offer fewer crowds while still providing relatively mild weather. Winter (November to February) has its own charm—fewer tourists, cozy pubs, and festive Christmas markets—but daylight can be as short as 7–8 hours, and many tourist attractions operate on reduced hours. Shoulder seasons, particularly April–May and September–October, strike an excellent balance between favorable weather, smaller crowds, and lower accommodation costs.
