Do people tip in Ireland, and how much?

Tipping in Ireland is generally modest compared to U.S. customs. In restaurants, 10–12% is standard for good service if it is not already included as a service charge on the bill. Tipping in pubs is not expected unless table service is provided, in which case rounding up the total or leaving €1–€2 is appreciated. Taxi drivers do not expect large tips; rounding up to the nearest euro or adding a few extra euros is common. Hotel porters may be tipped €1–€2 per bag, and housekeeping staff around €1–€2 per night.
